It might feel like you’re sliding backwards - like you’re back to square one. This may seem like something that has the potential to wreck you, ruin your faith, or completely divert all you’ve worked for. As long as you are doing your best, and asking for God’s help, stumbling blocks become stepping stones - it will always be a step forward.

Jenny Rollins Nelson’s day job is editing for the Joseph Smith Papers, though she freelances in both editing and journalism. She earned an M.S. in journalism from Boston University and a B.A. in English from Brigham Young University. She has written for Harvard Business Review, Boston magazine, the Miami New Times, Deseret News, the Ensign, the Friend, and many other publications. Jenny was first married in December 2014 and divorced in March 2015. Since then, she has spoken out about abuse and the stigma of divorce in the LDS community. She is working on publishing a nonfiction book about her experience with religious divorce, using journalistic techniques to fact check and fill in gaps to present a complete narrative. Jenny was recently married to Josh Nelson, who is the best man she’s ever met. They live happily in Orem, Utah, and are the proud parents of a delightfully grumpy hedgehog named Hermione.
